“A leader is one who knows the way, shows the way, and goes the way.”
John Maxwell
As we prepare to enter a new year, change is at the forefront of my mind. Life is about change, whether we are prepared for it or not. The most effective leaders are prepared. They study change, respect it, and work to create the appropriate action necessary for positive change. Helping leaders navigate this process is what I do. I help smart leaders take action. Powerful transformation and positive forward movement are the results. But as we are reminded almost daily, many leaders are not prepared. Top leaders in dynamic industries fail. Communication breaks down. Relationships suffer. People make bad decisions, wrong choices, and come up short. Everyone wants to flourish in life and finish well, but the reality is most don’t. Chronic stress and systemic drift drain energy and distract focus from the daily steps that lead to flourishing and finishing well. But I have discovered a powerful antidote—embracing a life of inspiration through Inspirational Intelligence.
Through my work as a coach and consultant, I daily engage in conversations about what leadership looks like and what it means to be a leader. I am convinced more than ever that we need heroes and leaders. We need people willing to give of themselves for the good of others, who are prepared to place the needs of others before their own. People willing to call us to a higher level of engagement and sacrifice. People with purpose and vision, who can shake us from the paralyzing apathy and complacency that renders us helpless, hopeless, and ineffective. This requires embracing a life of inspiration.
Embracing a life of inspiration. It may be simply stated but it is not so easily lived out. It takes courage to brave the tempestuous waters of cultural ambiguity along with an iron doggedness not to turn back when the journey becomes inevitably difficult. It is not an easy road, but it is most definitely worth it! It is about something bigger than you, greater than your best efforts, and beyond your imagination. As you prepare for 2022, will you dare to live a life of inspiration? Will you lead and live inspired? Our responsibility is to lead, and heroes show us the way to do that. Leadership is not optional. Leading yourself and others well is essential to flourishing in life and finishing well.
